According to the regulator, there are many users who have two SIM cards in their phones but are using only one SIM. The regulator says that mobile numbers are the property of the government, which are given to telecom companies for a fixed period. The government can charge a fee for the SIM card.
Preparations to shut down these SIM cards
According to Trai’s data, mobile operators are planning to shut down those SIM cards which are not being used for a long time in order to avoid losing their user base. According to the rules, if a user does not recharge his SIM card for a long time, then there is a provision to blacklist him. In such a situation, Trai has made a plan to impose a fine on the mobile operators. According to the data, at present, there are preparations to blacklist more than 219.14 million mobile numbers which are not in use for a long time.
